I am getting sued please help?

I am getting sued please help?
I got a letter in the mail today saying that if I don't pay over a thousand dollars, in 7 or so days, further legal action will be placed. This was from having a smartphone with Rogers, I also signed for my friend to have the same smartphone. I was 19, he was 17. We were young. He ended up calling his Norwegian girlfriend in Norway for hours+hours without any long distance plan. His bill was over a thousand dollars. Mine is big too because they are both canceled now and the cancellation fee $500 per phone. I was young and stupid, now I have to pay and I am soo broke, I just want to get a place with my girlfriend and start over! And I keep having to make the decision of having food on the table or giving all of my hard earned money to rich people. That I technically shouldn't even owe. What do I do? :'( I feel like crying / dying

Bankruptcy

This is not a large sum, and you should not file bankruptcy or let this overwhelm you. It was, as you say, just stupidity, but it was your mistake. Stop avoiding the debt, and get a second job for a while to pay off the $1000. You can do that easily. It may delay your move, but not for long. Besides, you and your gal should have at least $4000 saved up before you head out on your own. That is necessary for emergencies and unexpected expenses. Be patient, and be diligent. This should be easily paid off in 2-3 months with a second part-time job. This is a very small hurdle to overcome, and you need to prove to yourself that you can pay your debts, be responsible for your own mistakes, and handle small crisis like this before you are ready to take on a life together with your girlfriend. That is just part of being a mature man. Good Luck. Chin up!
3 :
You signed for it, you owe it even if your clueless friend made the calls. If they do sue you, they'll win. You can't just start over except by filing bankruptcy, and that would be a real bad idea for an amount like that, since it will really mess up your life for a number of years.
4 :
Try not to worry too much as the senders of the letters use a lot of intimidation to try to get money. They actually have a very weak position when actually getting money through the court process. It costs them a lot, and usually at the end the people don't have the money to pay the money order. A way to avoid problems with your credit is to open as many current accounts and credit cards now. This means you can re-build credit more easily and have credit available.
5 :
First off only having a thousand or so dollars of debt is a godsend...some people would love to trade places with you. But as others said, do not fret over it or plan on going bankrupt. First off call them and explain the situation to them. They usually just want the money so they might be willing to work out a reasonable payment plan over a period of time that would still allow you to move in with your girlfriend. If they do not want to work out something then try your hand at getting a part time job to pay it off. Many fast food restaurants are hiring...use the net amount (minus any travel expenses) to pay this debt off. Also the part time job would help you save faster for moving out. In the mean time, get in touch with this friend of yours and see if he has any money to help with this. If he is being a jerk about it contact his parents...they might have a solution for you.

Why are many of the programs considered unncessary by American repubs, considered great in most other nations?

Why are many of the programs considered unncessary by American repubs, considered great in most other nations?
Considered necessary and even great in many of developed countries. These are the top 10 most livable countries in the world, according to the UN: Norway Australia Iceland Canada Ireland Netherlands Sweden France Switzerland Japan in the order listed, and almost all of them make use of programs that Conservatives consider so-called "entitlements". America, oddly enough, despite having a GDP higher than most other industrialized nations, spends more on building it's arsenal and staging wars abroad, than in providing those same funds to programs like healthcare & education. If America spent half as much money on social programs, as it did it's military and invading the 30 countries it has since 1950, it would have an unparralled healthcare & education system, instead Neo-Cons have found a way to convince the public that the poor deserve to be poor, the rich deserve to be richer, and if you don't like it get the f___ out. Now this would normally be simply a discussion of ideology , except for the fact that it has resulted in an American citizenry that , as a whole, cannot cope academically in the 21st century with most other countries, that is rife with poverty, and teetering off the edge of a cliff from which there is no return. In Norway, all citizens get free education & healthcare from kindergarten to University, the same applies to smaller or lesser degrees with almost all 10 countries, and each of these has a LOWER overall GDP per capita than America, but a higher standard of living, and higher educated & healthier citizenry America is ranked 13th in standard of living (and dropping), and 30th in overall education ( & dropping) For those suggesting why not move to one of those countries. I am not American (thank God) and i would never want to be. I do have friends & relatives who are Americans and i pity them tremendously, i am Candian By the way, Canada was the first country to bounce back from the recession; the U.S. still hasn't recovered.

Why haven't you applied for asylum in one of those countries?
2 :
Perhaps you should move to one of those countries. You all think it's wrong to be patriotic, yet you put other countries on a pedestal. Now, would our standard of living be declining as a direct result of crime? How much of that crime is committed by the illegals you think we should keep? How much is due to a very, very bad economy? And why don't our liberal politicians admit that they've had a huge hand in this mess? edit: Ugh! Canadian? What makes you think you have a right to comment on policies that only affect us in the first place? If Canadians hate America so much, why do so many drive across the bridge every day to work here?
3 :
Not to be too pithy....... We have the Consitution, they don't. The U.S. allows you all the freedoms in the world which includes the freedom to move anytime you want.
4 :
Yeap its a crying shame what the libs have done to this nation, but then you support that fool in office now, so I'm sure you'er ok with it. You might also want to see what the average person pays in taxes over in those nations you so happy with, then to make everyone happy, chose one and move.
5 :
and tell me who considers these things, common in all the listed countries "un-American:" -homogeneous culture -single national language -mandatory national service -state-controlled access to university-level education -restrictive immigration policies -benefit/property restrictions on foreigners -education system based on "the basics" rather than "building self-esteem" Why do people from all your "most livable" countries still come here year after year? Could it be that they recognize that economic control often requires a good deal of cultural control? Could it be that some people still see the U.S. as more "free" in many important ways? I for one would love to live in a system as stable as Norway....but as an American, I'm not comfortable am not willing to give up our superior diversity in terms of culture and simple life choices...
6 :
I noticed that GREECE wasn't on your list... There's a reason for that... Greece is the first RED FLAG that you can't have the people who WANT your money and the people who MAKE the money - not be the same group of people. As the socialism continues - the RECIPIENT will "vote themselves" ever increasing "stuff" that they have not contributed to providing... in ever increasing levels. This continues - until you run out of all the RICH GUYS money - then you spend money that you haven't MADE yet. Our GRAND KIDS will be OPPRESSED/ENSLAVED by OBAMA'S STIMULUS... which almost could be justified, at least SHORT TERM - if it worked. You would THINK a BLACK GUY - of all people, would KNOW BETTER. I bet he does... he just doesn't CARE.
7 :
I'm always glad to see Democrats PROVE they prefer using force to make everyone government PROPERTY instead of being Americans.
8 :
They're socialist countries; we are not and never have been. They also pay over 75% in taxes. I hate to break your bias bubble but not all Republicans are rich and not all Democrat liberals are poor. In fact, it's more to the contrary. Further, you've never met any of those poor who expect things to be given housing and food and medical care yet have $200 sneakers and the latest cell phone. I have. If you want to move to Norway, enjoy yourself. I prefer this country and the ability to make my own way. The reason our education system is so poor, is because you liberals decided that teachers needed to do more about false self-esteem rather than teach. That teachers don't deserve to be paid for what they do and that the responsibility of education is on them and not students to put in the effort of learning. You've taken discipline out of the classroom. It's your fault the educational system is bad in this country. You wouldn't find the types of things you insist on in the classroom in Norway. (England's education system isn't a whole lot better.) Interesting you didn't mention that you weren't an American until now. If you aren't an American, then I suggest you MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS. It's of no concern of yours. And you know you pay much more in taxes than we do. Typical liberal: a liar.
9 :
A government, which robs Peter to pay Paul, can always depend on the support of Paul. -- George Bernard Shaw The ultimate result of shielding men from the effects of folly is to fill the world with fools. -- Herbert Spencer, English Philosopher (1820-1903) . A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have. -- Thomas Jefferson
10 :
I'd like it to work, but we have a larger population than these guys individual (and several of them put together). We also have a greater divide between the rich and the poor, even though most of our poor would be considered wealthy in most of the world. I just don't think it's feasible here.
11 :
So you are a Canadian? Do you have a JOB?? Do you know how much taxes do you pay? For me, I would rather IT IS ME who spends my hard earned money!
12 :
So why is the economy of many of those countries tanking? In point of fact, "livable" is a very subjective term. Sure as a typically oblivious individual, I'd love to have the government give me everything I need and that would certainly color my PERSONAL perception of the country. But if the country ultimately can't SURVIVE because of all of these entitlement program, how is the best interests of the citizens ULTIMATELY being served? PS: I find your comments about education VERY interesting. We spend MORE on educating our kids than any other major country... and yet we are 30th overall. So OBVIOUSLY entitlement programs really aren't the answer to a country's quality-of-life. Edit: "...By the way, Canada was the first country to bounce back from the recession; the U.S. still hasn't recovered... And yet, Obama is our President... the guy you think is so great. Considering how Obama is mimicking many of the mistakes made by FDR that extended the Great Depression, that we are not rising out of the recession today is, frankly, no surprise.
13 :
You are mistaken on many points. -First your comparisons are faulty. For example Norway has vast natural resources and is thus naturally rich. It is easy for them to afford these services. -Second, there are far more countries that use liberal social policies that are much worse off than America (Greece, Cuba, etc). -Third, the US spends far more on Social progams than on defense. Medicare is more expensive than Defense, Social Security is more expensive than Defense. -Forth, I don't trust any ranking by the UN. It is largely socialist itself!!! -Fifth, If the US didn't head more socialist under Obama it may have recovered as well. -Sixth, the current recession is the result of social regulation of mortgage lending.

Have you ever considered selling your horses because of the economy?

Have you ever considered selling your horses because of the economy?
Sometimes I think about selling my horses because of the economy. My family's life would be so much easier without the expense of our, well my, horses. I know we would all be happier with the extra money every month. I'm sure it equals up to $500. But I'm too stubborn, I've done it too long, and what can I say, I'm pretty good at what I do. Idk, it saddens and depresses me because idk how to make it work. I'm working on getting a job at my friends moms restaurant, so I can pay for at least the board myself. What do you think about the economy and horses. How do you make it work? UK people, what's it like over there? I wanna move to Norway or England haha. Well I have two horses. One is my seasoned rodeo horse, the other is my rising rodeo horse, here after summer when the season starts again, he'll be the main one I compete on. Once I retire the seasoned horse I'll sell him or lease him out.

Not seriously. More like "Oh, I really should so we can pay mortgage next month." But I never actually do it. And now, I'm 18, and my horse is all on me. Hello three jobs and toodle oo social life. I had an ad up to half lease him this last year in college because between school and bills and everything, I wasn't going to be able to cover board that month. Thankfully I got a job, but that was cutting it way too close. If I ever were in that situation again, I would sell or lease him. He'd be a hard horse to find a leaser for, so it would probably end up as selling
2 :
Here's a question that might help you decide - if your family can afford them, are you planning to keep them until they die of old age, or would you sell them and get another horse that would fit your riding skill better? ETA: If you were going to sell or lease your experienced horse next year, why not lease him right now? It will bring in some extra income, you will still have control of the horse and the person who is leasing will have the time to see if it is really what he wants.
3 :
I definitely know I'm struggling, and so are my parents. I had a pretty easy time making quick and good money, but now in this economy I'm practically begging for jobs. And I'm charging HALF of what I used to. My parents are lucky that I can afford most of my horse expenses. They still have to help with some of the medical stuff, and the occasional farrier. I really wish I made more money so I could pay for ALL of it myself. Buying my horse was definitely the EASIEST part. UGH, why wasn't I born into a rich family? My dad and mom recently got a second job (they're teachers so they have a month of the summer off) and will be working a lot longer hours in order for us to continue our cushioned life. I feel really bad for them, but you do what you gotta do.
4 :
Yeah :(. I almost sold my $20,000 show horse a few months ago cause my mom was having trouble taking care of two horses and i couldn't get a job( im only 14). But its all good now :D. I would have DIED if i would have had to sell my 2 horses :(. *EDIT* - why do people keep giving me thumbs down for NO reason??????
5 :
Well, for me the obvious answer is no, because I don't have a horse. But I know sure as hell the reason I haven't bought a horse is the economy. If we all STOP voting for evil, satanic people like obama, then we wouldn't have to be suffering this bad. VOTE REPUBLICAN IN NOVEMBER AND 2012!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Should i hate my mom for this?

Should i hate my mom for this?
Hey, I'm a 16-year old boy from Norway, living in Oslo. Here's the "rules" my mom gives me: [1] Always 1 hour (or more) physical activity EVERY day. [2] I have to wash all the floors in our 3-stories tall house twice a week, plus drying dust (or whatever it's called) [3] I have to make dinner at least twice a week. I have friends and all, but mostly I play on my laptop (We actually do have wireless, but she doesn't know. She thinks I'm playing an offline game. BUT don't be distracted by it, what she thinks is most important for considering who's "side" you're on..) For the 1st rule, I'd like to add that walking does not count. If I've been to school and have had no gymnastics, I have to run around a water near our house for an hour. Rain/snow/even ice? She doesn't care. I can't fake it, cause I have to take pictures with my phone, and bla bla. Just not possible faking. I've tried… For the 2nd rule: If there is a SINGLE little piece of anything at all on the floor when I've washed, she will get furious. She is never happy, even if I've done it perfectly. Same with the 3rd rule, if I fail in any way while making the dinner, she gets furious. And she's never happy. And here are the punishments i get / have gotten for being "disobeying" [1] I do not have access internet (well, she doesn't give me access and thats the point!), from now on and for the next 4 years. Hardly anything I do can change this, and if it changes, it's maybe by a day or two (she counts) [2] If I'm not in physical activity 1 hour a day she takes my laptop to work for 2 days. I bought it fo my own money (which was NOT from her) for about 2.2000 euros. [3] Not really a punishment, but she's angry with me almost all the time. And here's one of the things that piss me off the most: I have a brother at the age of 14. He does not have ANY demands at ALL. He does not do a single thing in the house (I have to wash his room). He once threatened me with a real knife. He held it half an inch from my throat. Ever since, it's been cold between us. I'm not very strong, and he is (considering his age). But we've fought some times since the knife episode and just because I'm older i guess i have a little "technical advantage". He starts it every time (yeah, like you haven't heard that one before, but you'll just have to believe me). In the worst episode after the knife, he needed 3 stiches in the back of his head. That time it started with me taking the remote and he instantly punching me in the face, breaking my glasses. Well, he asked for it. He's the one with the bad temper, so don't go on about any "rage management" for me :) Mom knows of the knife episode, and still even though my bro does nothing in the house and he has no demands (he gets the internet etc) she's always happy and frieldy to him. I know jealousy is bad, but come ON!? I just finished the 3rd of 3 years in… dunno what it is in english, but we have 7 years of "children school" and then 3 years of "youth school" (whereI i just finished) and then 2-3-5 new years, depending on what you want to become. Overall grades I'm the 2nd best in all the school with an average of 5.35 (scales are from 1-6). She doesn't care. The school has about 500 ppl. Well, I tried making it short… If you really bothered reading through all this, thanks alot. But if you're gonna say that I'm a spoiled brat: Compared to other Norwegian teenagers, I'm given more demands, WAY less rewards, and WAYY more punishment. And I also probably forgot something, but this'll do.

I'm not going to tell you if you should hate YOUR mother or not. However, if it was MY mother. Yes, I probably would hate her.
5 :
Do you have the equivalent of social services in Norway? Even if you do, you should be telling this to real people in real life. As many as you can. Hopefully, adults. The cleaning and punishments, while not fair, will make you stronger and more disciplined. But the knife? Na, draw the line there. Someone needs to know. Now.
6 :
First of all, moms can be that cruel(I would know im 15) They always seem to have an excuse but to us its nothing. I'm sorry that you mom is babying your brother that good. I feel that way with my two brothers. Mom makes me do things around the house(literally for nothing) Brothers do a little and get a lot of credit Maybe shes just trying to put structure into your life Hang on, maybe things will get better Don't hate hate her, its never good to hate just talk to her about this, let her know how your really feeling. Hope this works(:
7 :
I think you need to talk to someone about the situation, an older family member or a school counselor. What she's doing isn't really fair and quite emotionally damaging. She might have a reason for treating you this way that needs sorting. Maybe she had a bad time when she was pregnant with you and you remind her of that time. I'm not saying this is acceptable for her behaviour just that there might be a reason for her behaviour. What she is doing is mostly unfair because your brother does not have to do the same, if you were both doing these chores then it would be perfectly acceptable to ask you to help around the house. However, the running thing is a bit weird as if it was that she wanted you to keep fit and healthy then surely she'd want your brother to do it too and she doesn't care about your grades... soooo yeah weird. I would just refuse to do it. let her take your lap top and pretend like you don't care or hide it if you can. You need to stand up to her! As for your brother, brothers fight but putting a knife up to your throat is unacceptable next time he does that call the police. Maybe that will teach him a lesson. Just keep doing as well as your doing at school and just think one day, not so far away, you'll have a good job and will be able to move out. Your mum will no longer have control over you and your brother will probably be in prison! Look to the future :) Edited to add: Your own feelings will determine whether you hate your mum or not. I can't tell you how to feel but I wouldn't be surprised if you said you did hate her.
8 :
Call social services, this is not responsibility, it's slavery.
9 :
She' given you a roof over your head, she makes you food everyday, she cleans your clothes and ass (well when you we're baby) everyday and much more and your bitching about cleaning ? wow people are so ungrateful these days. (I didnt read all of it)

Anyone else think the Twilight movie was better than the book?

Anyone else think the Twilight movie was better than the book?
I’m sorry if this is a bit long, but when it comes to Twilight I have a lot of opinions. You can just answer the question if you don’t bother to read my rant. I got the book for Christmas and read the three first chapters that very day. I quickly decided that the book was poorly written crap and put it away. Then partly because my friend asked/forced me to go with her to the Twilight movie, which premiered today in Norway, and partly because I felt guilty about not reading it since it was a gift, I decided to finish the book. At one point I had to ask here on yahoo answers if it would get better, but I either got told to go to hell by obsessive Twilight fans for insulting their precious book or told to burn it by fellow Twilight haters. I finished it though. GO ME! But then I watched the movie today and I was pleasantly surprised. First of all, I actually liked Edward, which I thought was impossible. Robert Pattison (that’s his name right?) is more odd looking than good looking to me, so the perfect image (that Meyer was desperately trying to make him which I thought was idiotic, shallow and pathetic) wasn’t there. I also liked the way he talked. And even more surprising, that stupid and pointless baseball match was actually really cool! The director must be awesome to pull that off. Of course, there were things I didn’t like. The make-up was a little over the top pale to the point where it looked stupid. The villains were more comical than scary. Kirsten Stewart did not make me like Bella, but my hatred for her was so strong, I think that was impossible. The fighting scene was cool, therefore there should have been more of that and less of the cheesy romance. The rest was Meyer’s fault for being a crappy writer. (Like how the villains suddenly wanted Bella and how Bella and Edward falls in love too quickly without showing any kind of chemistry whatsoever). So do you agree? Do you disagree? Got something else about it that you’d like to say? Was I the only one who didn’t know that Jacob was a Native American/Indian before seeing it in the movie? Because I was like, what? When was that mentioned? Was it during the beach scene, because I kind of only skimmed that part…? And wow, that was long… I’m actually planning on watching the movie again though, since I’ll be watching it with a more positive attitude. I’m never wasting (my brother’s) money on another Stephenie Meyer book though.

I really loved the book Twilight, but I liked the movie better! The baseball scene was actually one of my favorites in the movie, but I disliked it in the book. I like both the actors for Bella and Edward and liked both the characters in the book. I think the book is a very good book and nowhere near crap considering a lot of what's out there, but I was surprised that the movie was so good! I can't wait to see it again (waiting for the DVD!) and looking forward to the rest of the movies.

(robert PATTINSON. sorry, he's my favorite. :)) 1) it's understandable for whichever side did whatever first- saw the movie or read the book. usually book fans are disappointed with movies because it didn't live up to the ideal the reader themselves were able to create. i, for one, loved both. but i prefer the book (which i read before seeing the movie, btw). robert was AMAZING in the movie, but i think they could've cast bella better. (THAT opinion might be because of how i was able to see her while reading is not how kristen stewart played her. or maybe cause i just hate her. :)) 2) the books weren't written to be masterpieces or a classic like shakespear or wuthering heights. it was written so the masses would be able to put themselves in bella's shoes and connect to the book on their own level. stephanie meyer wanted people to feel the emotions bella was experiencing (which she did for me, and a lot of other loyal fans). but you can, of course, have your own opinion. :)) and, silly... DUH jacob is native american. :))) hahaha! he lives on a reservation! :)) hope i helped

when movies are based on books,,the books are ALWAYS better...you have your own image of what people look like and what you think of them and i think that the people who played bella and edward were shit and they should never have gotten the parts...they were to say the least not up to my expectations image wise...the guy who played edward is horrible llooking and seemed like he has a shitty personality in real life when i watched some interview on tv with him..i dont know maybe its me but he was off or something...but i do disagree with the movie being better than than the book...i also find it really annoying how people are SOOOO key word "SOOO" obssessed with the series...thats all i hear about!
8 :
I think the movie was crap. I don't understand how Stephenie Meyer could have let someone butcher her story that way. The movie skipped over really integral parts of the plot (like there's no mention of Bella's hatred towards blood) that made the movie a far cry from the book. Boo!!!
9 :
NO WAY! the books are way better! the movie was poorly acted, and had a lot of the main storyline missing the books were jam-packed with details, and were written amazing. the only part in the movie that i felt was casted correctly was jacob black. i mean, if edward is supposed to be perfect, they could at least get a cute guy to play him. rob is a good actor and everything, but hes just not edward material.and bella....wow! kirsten stewart is no where near good enough to be bella!! anyway as u can see i like the books better...but w.e everyone is different.
10 :
i read what you wrote,.. but im sorry, i dont agree w/ you movie is better than the book,.. ill proudly say that i already finished reading the series,.. and so sad that its done,.. the book is more interesting than the movie though the movie was fantastic,...

My husband wants to divorce me because of economical problems and because I have had problems with his mum!?

My husband wants to divorce me because of economical problems and because I have had problems with his mum!?
I was a 22 years old girl living in Iran with very good money that I made and also my dad gave when I married a 23 years old Norwegian guy without a job who was studying. We had so many difficulties to marry but finally we made it. When I moved to Norway he had already given up on studying and he had 50 000 studying loan that he has to pay even now!! He did not even work 3 years ago and he was living poorly in a very small room in a very small town. I spent many days without eating anything yet I walked to school everyday in cold snow without warm clothes and... but I loved him and stayed with him. We moved to a bigger room which had absolutely nothing in it! No refrigiator, oven, nothing. We got no help from his mother who did not even wash our clothes. She did not even help us with 50-60 dollar and that caused arguments between us too. Then with my encouragement he got a parttime job which only helped us to pay our important expenses yet we did not have money for food! I applied for 600 jobs and did not get!! He tried to get 3-4 creditcards to be able to pay for expenses! 1 year after that we moved to Oslo for better opportunities and we had EXTREMELY difficult time for 2 months and I had to sleep on empty floor until he got a fulltime job and slowly we bought things without anyones help. I got a fulltime job after a year which was around 70% of his income. So I paid around 30-40% of my income for our sharing expenses. But he is never satisfied and he claims that I must pay for creditcard bills that he has spent on me 3 years ago. He also says that he does not have any money in his account after he pays for his studying loan that he has got 6 years ago before he knew me, even if now he has fulltime job with good payment! He always complains if I buy any dress, make up and such things for me. After finansproblems I lost my fulltime job and got 40% job which isnt enough for my own expenses yet I still give him 20% of our expenses. He claims that I must give more to him and another prob is that he wants to rent 10 000 dollar to his mother who has not helped me even 50 dollar when I was dying hungry! He says that his mother needs this money badly and will give back the money! I think we have worse economic than his mum!! We just argue all the time. Help me.

first, if he is so broke, how would he give 10,000 to his mother? that part i don't understand. also, as his wife, it is your job to put in 50% for your expenses. but, you should not have to give it directly to him. you should pay the bills yourself. to make sure that your money is going where it is supposed to be going. you should pay the credit card bills on time every month or both of your guys' credit will be very very bad. also, it is not or should it have ever been his mom's responsibility to wash your clothes. your old enough to be married, your old enough to do your won laundry. and as for her giving you money, if she is needing to borrow from you, then chances are, she just didn't have it to give. but by the sounds of it, neither do you. so the loan is a bad idea. unless you can afford it, and get something in writing. good luck.
2 :
you're doing all this just becasue he is Norweigan you feel you have to buy his love, he doesn't love you the same, it's plain to see.
3 :
cause he married you because he needs a female body to bear his children; and be obedient to his mother; now once there is a inbalance in his equation ; he first gets rid of you cause he wasnt emotionally attached to you when he married you; it was more like a purchase! sorry but please respect your self and leave; it might seem that you cant because you never know another way of living; but believe me there is
4 :
When you say Norwegian, you don't mean ethnically, right? Is there no love? Why is it a problem him divorcing you if there is no love? You should be able to stay in Norway if you have been married for three years, if I'm not mistaken. Find someone who loves you instead? May be the blessing you need, this.
5 :
You are wasting your time. What's the use in loving someone who does not love you back? He's just using you. Don't loan the no-good-for-nothing-bum's mom any money. Tell her to get her own damned job.
6 :
where did you find this guy??? All I can say right now is RUN BABY RUN!!!! Life is too short to bother with a drama king.
7 :
You are not his wife, you are his financial partner and one that he feels is inadequate. Get out of the marriage and find a real man who can provide for his family and give the love you deserve.
8 :
you must wake up .. hes after your money .. not you.. so leave him wile you can .. hes a rat bag .. wake up .. and look at .. getting away from .. him.. his mum is only using you and so is he ....
9 :
This is way too confusing to understand. He has no money but yet he gives a lot to his mom. He wants you to give a lot of your money to him for bills he created. All kinds of weird stuff is happening here. So many couples argue over money. It is not worth breaking up over even tho I would think so at first because he seems very selfish with money that isn't his. But yet, usually couples put their money together and decide what to pay and how much to pay on everything. It should be a joint effort. Combine all of your incomes and split all of the bills equally. Young people don't think that way. They think that it's individual money and individual bills. Do you want to live like that and argue forever? Then if you don't do as I suggest. Love each other and help each other with bills and everything else. You are as ONE now and that's the way it should be with the two of you. Teach him this and you will both be a lot happier.
10 :
First of all, let me ask you what exactly it is that you are getting out of this relationship. Sounds to me like you have gotten nothing but hardship from day one. Why would you want to stay in this type of situation anyway. Why wouldn't you want to get away from him and his mother and take care of just yourself? You could do so much better on your own at least you wouldn't have him dragging you down. Think about it. What good is he to you anyway? Sounds to me like he will let you work hard every day and take care of him but I don't think he would do the same for you. Red

QANTAS or Singapore Airlines?

QANTAS or Singapore Airlines?
I plan on booking a return trip from Sydney, Australia to Olso, Norway. Departure around the end of November, 2011 with the return around the end of February, 2012 (I am flexible in terms of dates). I have looked up the prices around a couple of online flight booking websites however with further research, decided it was better to book with a travel agent for an international flight. So, I have looked up the prices on the website of the travel agent I plan on making the booking with. At first, I was thinking of going with the cheapest ticket which was KLM Royal Dutch Airlines but after a few Google searches, came to the conclusion that it was probably more wiser to pay the extra money for better service. So, after having removed a couple of other airlines from my possible options, I am now left with QANTAS or Singapore Airlines. With QANTAS, it will be around $2223.14 and for Singapore Airlines, $2495.94. I've moreover checked both airlines on SKYTRAX and QANTAS is 8/10, with Singapore Airlines as 8.5/10. So, there is really only a '0.5' difference between them there. I've read up good things about both airlines but I'm still uncertain. I know that it will be a long flight so obviously seat comfort, food and entertainment do remain as being factors to consider. However, is there a need to spend possibly an extra $272.80 for a supposedly better airline or will it be fine to just travel with QANTAS? Plus, if it does make any difference, my actual destination will be Bergen so I need further travelling costs there and back as well. So, that's why I just want to be definite as to whether spending the extra money is necessary.

It's always better to fly with your 'own' airline, if you're a native from Australia, it's Qantas. Home airlines tend to cater to needs and preferences of natives, the magazines, meal menus etc. are all chosen based on natives' favorites. The other important factor is you can accumulate air miles when you fly, the chances you are going to fly Qantas again should be much greater than flying with a foreign airline.
2 :
If the only choice is between QANTAS and Singapore Airlines I would go for QANTAS. Singapore Airlines do not offer direct flights from Singapore to Oslo. You would need to transit through either Frankfurt/Germany or Copenhagen/Denmark and continue your flight on either Lufthansa or SAS. This requires to pass through either German or Danish immigration. The flights between the so called 'Schengen' countries are internal flights without immigration controls. Flights from Frankfurt or Copenhagen to Oslo depart from the national/Schengen part of the airport. International transit without immigration control is not possible. The stopover time of only 1:05 hours to 1:20 hours will result in a 'nervously queuing' at immigration with the self-question asked: will I make it to my connection flight?? http://www.smartraveller.gov.au/zw-cgi/view/TravelBulletins/Europe_Schengen .. The transit at London travelling on QANTAS will be more smoother. You will be able to stay airside without passing British immigration and you will be transported by designated buses to the departure terminal. However you will have a 6 ½ hours stopover at London of you want to travel on a flight operated by QANTAS; the other flights offered and sold by QANTAS are actually performed by the allied airline British Airways. Maybe you should still reconsider your plans and book on KLM. The flight will take you directly into Bergen with stopovers at Singapore and Amsterdam. Qantas Airways flights 31; departs 17:30 Kingsford Smith (SYD); arrives 22:30 Changi (SIN) stopover in Singapore (SIN) for 2h 45m KLM Royal Dutch flight 836; departs 01:15 Changi (SIN); arrives 07:50 Amsterdam - Schiphol (AMS) stopover in Amsterdam, Netherlands (AMS) for 2h 50m KLM Royal Dutch flights 1187 operated by KLM Cityhopper; departs 10:40 Amsterdam - Schiphol (AMS); arrives 12:30 Bergen - Flesland (BGO) flight time: 8h 10m + 13h 35m + 1h 50m = 23h 35m stopover time: 3h 40m + 2h 50m = 6h 30m total travel time: 30h 05m The stopover time of 2h 50m at Amsterdam (or 2h 00m on the return flight) is sufficient to clear immigration without hustle.

Singapore Airlines!!!
4 :
Given the choice between Singpaore Airlines, Qantas or KLM, I would choose Singapore every time. They win more "best airline" awards than any other airline, have incredible food (for an airline) and the service is as good as it gets. You also will layover at Singpore's Changi Airport which is one of the best airports in the world for a number of reasons. Singapore Airlines can be more expensive, otherwise I would consider KLM and Qantas to be about equal regarding service and amenities and would choose the airline with the best price and flight and layover times.

Someone Read my essay and crtique it...?
Born in 1901 Florence South Carolina, William H. Johnson grew up in a poor family of seven being the eldest child. Without any money and Johnson was limited to the skills that were hidden within him. Johnson at an early age discovered that he had strong abilities to draw. Using these drawing skills to his advantage he started to create penning cartoons for local newspapers. With the help of this and a variety of jobs, he was able to save enough money to pay for the art education program at the Prestigious National Academy of Design in New York City, where he moved at the age of seventeen in 1921. His teacher Charles Harthorne helped Johnson throughout his years and helped him get into the Cape Cod School of Art in Provincetown, Massachusetts during the summers of 1923 to 1926 where he graduated. Johnson did not have the supporting type of family when growing up. His mother was black with a Sioux ancestry and his father was white. His father had never supported him in his life, and was not looking forward to the goals he had. Johnson had never given up, winning the Cannon prize in 1924 and 1926 and the Hallgarten prize in 1925. In 1926 Johnson moved to France in search of a better life with more Opportunities. There he met a weaver; Holcha Krake in 1930, before marrying her, Johnson went to South Carolina. In South Carolina he was thrown in jail, because he painted a brothel known to him only as the Jacobia Hotel. Returning to Denmark he married and lived with Krake for the next eight years in rural areas of Denmark and Norway. During these years he sold paintings until he was employed as a mural painter for the WPA. While employed he learned art techniques such as silkscreening. Some of his paintings were silkscreening, like the Going to Church, Jitterbugs, and the Street Musicians. Some of his other works are oil on canvas and oil on board paintings, such as Minnie, Landscape with the sun, and Lamentation. During World War II he moved back to New York City to get away from Nazism. Johnson moved back to New York just to find himself in even more problems. Interracial marriages and the horrid depression were obstacles to live with. During his time in New York City, Johnson taught at the Harlem Community art Center around 1940. In 1944 his beloved wife Holcha died from breast cancer. Following Krake’s death, Johnson was deteriorating. He spent twenty-three years of his life in a state hospital in Long Island, New York. Johnson died April 1970 due to physical and mental health problems. William Henry Johnson was a well educated man. He went through thick and thin during his years of life. He lived a hard childhood, but managed to make it through during his teen and adult years. His great fortune was not money, but his creativity and ability to draw. Johnson was one of the greatest artists during the Harlem Renaissance period.

It is an excellent story. I would suggest that you slow it down somewhat and make clearer breaks between topics. You might break it into more paragraphs. The conclusion worked well for me. It summarized the story well without duplicating detail. I am not a writer but the painting names should have quotes or something. If you are preparing the document in Word, they have a grammar feature that gives readability statistics. I have personally found it to be helpful. Good luck!

How to gain the trust of french people? (specially my bf's family). Are they hard to deal with? ?

How to gain the trust of french people? (specially my bf's family). Are they hard to deal with? ?
Im asian, 24 yrs old but now living in europe & working here.I have a house & my own car in Asia where my family is staying.Im in a relationship for 1 and a hald yr with a french guy.He is nice, sweet, romantic & i love him so much.I went to france and met his family.I stayed for 9 days with him in their house together with his dad.I met his sister and we had a nice family dinner.I thought everything was fine. His father told me that he accepted me as a part of the family. He even give us his wedding ring and his wife who passed away. That time i felt so nice cause i was thinking they accepted me already. After 9 days i went back to norway & i never met my bf's sister again. We really didnt talk so much and also the dad cause hard to communicate they dont speak english so much and i dont speak french. This past few days my bf told me that his family like me but they dont trust me cause they dont know me enough to trust me.. My questions are: How to deal with my bf's french family to make them understand that i love my bf and its not the question of money? Does it really like this hard to deal with the french family? Is it because im Asian thats why they dont trust me? Do they think that im so low cause im Asian? Does it really that hard to deal with french people? I read an in some papers that French people mostly are hard to deal with, is it true? Does anyone have same problems as mine? What should i do to make them trust me? Should i break up with my bf because of this problem? I dont want him fight with his family, i dont want him to choose but now things make it hard for everyone of us.... Can anyone give me some advice pls... I would really appreciate any advice from all of you guys.. thanks in advance :-)

Throw them some soap and some razors. I hear they kinda funky and hairy in all the wrong places.

usually, if you show interest in french language or culture, french people will show interest in you. if you make an attempt to speak french to them, they will attempt to speak english to you (or will at least help you with your french). get in contact with them again. find their phone numbers and call them up just to chat. the best way for you to earn their trust is for them to learn more about who you are.

if u are an asian doesnt mean ur low...take out such notions from ur head.. these days no one low or noone is high if they are looking down upon u then u have sooo many other guys still young and single and u have chance.

Hi, I have travelled to France many times on business and pleasure. The French People are very protective of their culture and identity. It's in the history of the French VS the English through hundreds of years. THEY HAVE NOTHING AGAINST YOU BECAUSE YOU ARE ASIAN! Trust me, it is just because you are not French. I suggest you learn some of their customs and take a first course in French in Norway. The next time you see them, say a few things in French. They will love that. It makes them very comfortable. Psychologically they see you are not taking away their culture (through their son-your boyfriend) They will see you are making an attemp to become Frenc. Do this for the sake of your relationship. After you do, they will become very comfortable with you. And once they accept you-they will accept you for life. When I travelled to France on business with colleagues-it was very difficult for my colleagues to get along with the French. I did what I told you to do-and I never had a problem with them. For example-I would go to an appointment and speak the little French I knew. They knew English better than I knew French and would immediately switch the conversation to English. That little attempt I made to honor their culture, language and so forth always turnedd the situation around-even with the very rude Frenh waiters in Paris!!! I am an American, and they don't like Americans in general. But by being meek, trying a little French and humbling myself a bit to them, ALWAYS TURNED THE SITUATION AROUND. I wish you much luck. Another question about U.S. politics.?

Another question about U.S. politics.?
I lived in Norway most of my life, then in Netherlands a couple decades, back to Norway, then to the U.S. I asked a question earlier that lead me to believe that the people here seem to define words completely differently than the rest of the world. For example everybody yelling about how everything is socialist makes me really laugh because I know the parties back home would detest some of these things. One of the arguments that appears to be common is that since Obama does something that a socialist might support, that he is now a socialist. Well by that logic could we assume that since Marx would support the oil companies giving money to Alaskans as Palin made them do, that Palin is now a Marxist. Of course she is not. And by the way, democratic socialism is not the same as communism, not all socialists are Marxists, and Hitler was not a democratic socialist. After watching TV it seems that all of these things get confused in American's heads. And by the way, allowing gays to marry will not make your society crumble, nor will having fair elections or allowing people to use soft drugs. I am not a member of any socialist parties and was at one point a member of the conservative party of Norway. But it is hilarious to come to the US and see people get so angry about things they don't even understand. In other countries people don't spend an eternity arguing about stupid things like whether or not one human should have the same rights as another human, we all have common sense enough to see that caste systems do not work. Most of our governments time is spent on real issues not stupid bickering. Sorry but I came to the US with some ACTUAL socialist friends and we all just think this is hilarious. I genuinely feel sorry for all of the US citizens who have to put up with the idiocy of your government and people. So, I guess my question is, what the hell is wrong with your country? What could I possibly be jealous of? The US is far below the standard of living for other countries, your country is imploding, you have ridiculously high infant mortality rates. I could go on if I wanted to. FLBeach: you need to stop America from being socialist now? You apparently are one of the millions that don't understand what socialism is. Your country is not turning socialist, that would be like saying we need to stop Norway from hording all of the ham sandwiches. It doesn't make any sense. Colorado: I am actually here because I am going to live with a friend for a bit. So yes the benefit is my friend. It is a little ironic that you mention decrepit nations if you get what I mean. And I am sure you will find that if you live in Norway for a while, you will realize that you are not as free as you seem to believe. The word libertarian is also something I have come to understand that US citizens do not understand. Libertarian is the anarchist brach of socialist philosophy so this makes your comments even more ironic. If you are speaking of the Randian libertarianism which is probably the case, you do not have this either.

"So, I guess my question is, what the hell is wrong with your country?" - Far left Liberals. You're right, America is not a socialist country....and most of us don't want it turning into one either..so we need to stop that from happening now.
4 :
So what brings you to the US, Mr. Quisling ? Obviously, there must be some obvious benefit to being here other than your morally deprived, decrepit nation. My suggestion is to go back home and enjoy the copious welfare benefits which Norwegian society gives you. Perhaps it is you who do not understand American society rather than we Americans not "understanding" Maybe you don't understand that many Norwegians came to this country long before you did, because they believed the American dream- much of which is based on libertarian principles which are nonexistent in Europe.

many here in the usa tout your society as an example of perfection. so why would you be so anxious to leave a perfect state. they say that your government is so wonderful and cares about the people so much. Anyway, check with the US embassy they can give you accurate information. -... ....

I think you are crybaby. Statistics say that Norway is one of the best countries in the world to live in, so if you don't like it, you are unlikely to like it anywhere - apart if you hate cold weather, Norway has admittedly not that much in way of warm winters to offer... It sounds like you don't have an advanced degree to offer? Other countries care not what your desire is, but what they are looking for in immigrants, which is job skills. The question is not what a country has to offer to you, the question is what you have to offer to a new country.

i'll give you a straight answer as you dont seem to know anyone or much about usa. Use that money you got to marry someone there, it will be your fasted route there!!!!

Do you support the European Union and if so why?

Do you support the European Union and if so why?
I like the original idea, the one which was democratically approved when Britain joined in 1973. Back then it was called the EEC and it was supposed to be a simple trading bloc which helped keep the peace in Europe and also allowed freedom to work and travel. I am not a big fan of the modern EU though (which by the way has never been tested democratically even though it has changed so much from what was originally voted for) and if I thought they had a chance of winning I would vote for UKIP (the UK independence party) in the next election. I'll give you my reasons and then you can make a response and try to convince me that Britain is benefitting from EU membership. Here in a nutshell is what I think of the EU -The organisation is undemocratic and is essentially run by anonymous bureaucrats. Despite this the EU passes aprox. 75% of new laws in Britain. I don’t like the idea that someone I've never heard of never mind voted for has the power to tell me what I can and can't do. If you want any more proof that the EU doesn't like democracy look at how politicians in most member states denied us a vote on the Lisbon treaty. -It interferes with British independence. With every new treaty member states give up more and more of their sovereignty and thus their independence. Like it or not the EU is still striding towards ever closer union. If we remain a member of the EU then sooner or later we will lose more and more of our independence and perhaps even lose the pound in favour of the Euro and thus lose a part of our heritage going back 1000 years. -The EU has become too powerful and readily interferes with so many aspects of our lives. I believe in the old phrase 'the government which governs best governs least' and prefer the idea of the night watchman state which only makes changes when something is wrong and which dos not try to control everything. The EU on the other hand would happily interfere and regulate every aspect of our country even when there is nothing wrong with our current systems.(Progress for progress sake?) -The EU is still dominated by its 2 main founding members France and Germany. They make the real decisions while Britain an equal in almost every other way is forced to tow the line. (I’ll admit the blame for that is more with our government and leaders than the actual EU but it does show how the British don’t get as much out of the Union) -Britain puts more money into the EU (our taxes) than we get out of it. That means that thanks to the EU our money isn't being spent on us. Surely this money could be better spent by us elsewhere- on our health service or our armed forces? -The EU is full of red tape and bureaucracy; it is responsible for the vast majority of the paperwork and regulation which currently strangles our industries. Such red tape and bureaucracy is what prevents the EU from functioning as it should do and what makes it slow to react to current issues (they still haven't responded to the credit crunch and it's been happening for a year now. The only thing they have managed to respond to is global warming and that took years to produce a very weak commitment which surprise, surprise; allows them to tax and regulate us even more and in the grand scheme of things wont have much effect) -There are 3 major benefits of EU membership that I can see Freedom of movement Trade Support of agriculture through the C.A.P. (Common Agricultural Policy) I believe these benefits are far outweighed by the EU's failures but putting that aside I believe that we could still receive those benefits outside of the EU. With the money we save by quitting the EU we could easily fund a viable alternative to the CAP As nations like Switzerland, Iceland and Norway have proven a country can still have strong trade ties with the EU without being a member. Besides leaving the EU would allow us to increase trade with other countries like the countries in the commonwealth. As for freedom of movement I believe that Britain could quite easily negotiate a way of maintaining that upon leaving the EU. But if we could not then at worst it is quite easy to get visas for EU countries anyways. That is basically my opinion on the EU. I know I'm not on my own here as many polls have shown that in Britain the EU is widely unpopular. I'd appreciate any response but I'd be really interested to see a response from someone Pro EU.

No, I don't support the EU and my reason are pretty much the same as yours, i.e. it's undemocratic, run mostly by the giants, it's a whole bunch of bureaucracy, it costs a lot of money to operate, it does very little for the public, it tries to regulate or dictate every aspect of people's lives to the point that it loses sense and decisions are made in Brussels, by people who don't understand or take into consideration the differences between the member states (what may work in one country doesn't always work in all the other countries). Also, it was supposed to make things simpler by having the same rules and system in each country, but in reality each country interprets the rules their own way, so those "common rules" are not really making things simpler like they are supposed to.

Volcanoes and weddings. This upcoming bride is really nervous.?

Volcanoes and weddings. This upcoming bride is really nervous.?
It's past 3 am and I just can't sleep.. I have no idea if there's a solution to my problem, but perhaps someone can offer some advice or words of encouragement to this nervous wreck of a bride-to-be. My fiance and I became a couple 5 years ago. We have lived together for over 4 of those years. On valentine's day he proposed to me and I've really taken the role of the upcoming bride seriously and have bought my dress, sent the invitations, arranged for the church and reception, as well as our honeymoon. Our wedding is to be in August, on the 14. Now the thing is that I grew up in Europe, in Norway to be exact, and my entire family (parents, siblings, cousins, old friends etc who are all still living there whereas I moved to the United States to be with my (now) fiance. Obviously we have his family members and common friends here too. We wanted to have our wedding in my old hometown in Norway and made all the arrangements to do that. The people closest to us here (his parents and remaining grandparents along with his best man) all bought tickets to go to Norway with us for the wedding. After the ceremony and reception there we were going to go for a honeymoon in Europe, then come back here and host a smaller reception for those friends that could not make it to the first ceremony. Two days after I booked the plane tickets to Norway, the first volcano on Iceland erupted. Of course this concerned me for a while, but the ash clouds and air travel didn't seem to be 'that' bad off. Recently that volcano 'dried up' and I once again thought that everything was fine. Then I read in some newspapers online this evening that the much larger and far more dangerous neighbor volcano is now waking up, with an eruption close to being imminent. My nerves are already shot after the first volcano scare, and now I don't know entirely what to do. There's been so much planning and money put into this wedding, and I can't imagine having it without my immediate family there for me. As close as I am to his family, it's very important for me to have mine there as well. Now I'm at a loss for what to do. I'm pondering changing the tickets to a different destination, but our spare time is very limited and ground travel is not the best option. I'm honestly scared.. Those poor people on Iceland as well. :( They have been through so much lately and now this. Thank you guys for the advice. I'm a bit less of a wreck now than I was last night. Hopefully it'll work out. I'm not sure if southern Europe was affected or not. Even if it wasn't, we would be talking about adding another couple of days on the travel if I have to go to Spain or somewhere and take ground transport up north. I wasn't really planning on moving the wedding here. My family is much bigger than his, so that is another reason we set the location in my old home town. You guys all offered good advice so I will have to think a bit before I select a best answer. Thanks again.

if you can, change the tickets. i cant imagine how hard it would be to have family there AND have your wedding planned there. but i think to help lessen your stress, change the tickets to somewhere more solid. yes, it may be a little extra money but if you cant even get to norway on your wedding day, i think it would be worth it. i too hope the people in Iceland are okay as well. its been a rough couple of years for the earth and its people
2 :
Relax. Another large eruption on that exact day is pretty unlikely. That's why the last eruption was such a big story: it was such a rare event. If possible, people could book their tickets for a few days before the wedding, to give some leeway. That's about all you can do. I'm sure it'll be fine. Moving the wedding will solve nothing. If by some chance there is another eruption, it will still be a problem, it would just inconvenience a different set of people - those who want to fly out of Norway, like your parents. EDIT: p.s. Travel insurance might be an option too.
3 :
If I understand the whole volcano thing, southern Europe was unaffected. If I were you, I'd contact your airline and inquire -- explaining that you are to be married in Norway -- what they could possibly do should the airlines stop travel again. Could they get you to Southern Europe where you could then train to Norway? I think Spain & Portugal were open for flights during the prior issues. Certainly this would be your last possible choice, but if you had to do it, could the airline get you there? Air travel can be iffy these days. Be sure you have trip insurance in case anything gets interupted or cancelled and just do your best to have an alternate route to get to Norway if you must.
4 :
First of all, congratulations with the upcoming wedding. :) Secondly, I don't think you should worry so much about the second volcano or change your wedding plans because of it. We've been waiting for it to erupt for decades, as it's long overdue. The previous eruptions in that volcano have usually been linked with eruptions in the volcano that has been erupting lately. However, there can be months or years between those eruptions. It's impossible to tell whether it will erupt this year or not or what effects that would have on air traffic. There are no clear signs about it and scientists have not found any change in its activity lately. I think you should go ahead with your plans. If there will be unexpected problems with air traffic in the days before your wedding, you can always make last minute changes if necessary. With the situation the way it is today, I think you shouldn't be too nervous about it, just enjoy the wedding preparations and if something happens, you'll deal with it later. Unexpected things can happen wherever your wedding will be. It's impossible to tell in such long advance. Oh, and don't worry about us Icelanders. We're doing fine despite the eruptions. Only a small part of the population is severely affected and they are getting plenty of help from other Icelanders, so we're coping well with the situation, given the circumstances. We're used to living with rough, unpredictable nature and we'll get through this. There's no need to feel bad for us, but thank you for your concern.
