I miss them so much..?

I miss them so much..?
im born and raised in norway by one norwegian mother, and a middle-eastern father. im now sixteen currently attending at high school. My father is 59 years old, bitter, angry and many times when he say something, it is always his word that matter. I've observed how he acts and i've noticed that everytime he acuses someone of something,(and makes a bigger thing about it than it really is) but then finds out he is wrong, he suddenly finds another excuse, just to feel right. He doesnt say "im sorry". that is so "typical western" he says. And sometimes im confused because sometimes I really love my dad, is that maybe because of the gifts he gives me at my birthday/christmas? Now, my mothers side of the family. I hardly know them, they used to and we (me my brother and my mom not my dad he didnt want to) used to travel to them to be together. Now that we are talking about my dad not wanting to go. He is so weird. He is also very greedy. This one time, we were planning on painting the whole house(inside), my dad talked to a few polish painters, and what he said when they left was: Those polish cant paint. and they want that much money? The second reason why my father didnt want anyone to paint our house was because he didnt want them to use the bathroom. Come on! We are all humans for f**k sake.. So what really happened was that he did the whole thing by himself just because of that. Anyways, the other part of our family, I love them. But I am only sixteen, i cant move out yet. and I cant imagine how my father must feel if I leave.. Any tips/good word of advice? Thank you in advance. Best Regards.

I can understand your frustration with your Dad and at your age that is normal. You are becoming a man who will one day branch out on your own. Middle eastern men have nprmally (not always) a very autocratic mentality - they are the head of the house and what they says goes. But they normally love their children very much. Western society is more equal between husband and wife (generally speaking) . May I suggest you just bide your time and study hard and try to stay clear of your father when he is in his dark moods and it won;t be long before you are off to University and then eventually you will have a good job and then can decide where you want to live. Hang in there mate ... you'll be right (eventually) - obviously you are more Norwegain than middle eastern right? Incidentally painting the house himself is an illustration of his 'stingyness' not 'Greed'. Good luck ............MGD

America's Political Practice. The Electoral College and Popular Vote. The People.?

America's Political Practice. The Electoral College and Popular Vote. The People.?
I strongly disagree with the way America's Political System operates. A presidential candidate (PC) can win the popular vote and still lose the election. This is because the electoral college (EC) chooses the next president. The people vote in their state. Then the members of the EC choose the candidate corresponding to the majority party vote by the people. I now see this on going pattern in presidential elections. If the candidate wins the EC votes of California, New York, Texas, Montana and Florida he is almost guaranteed victory. I believe this is unfair to everyone. This is a proposition that I hope does not occur but then again, how could you stop it. --- The presidential candidate makes deals and gives the EC of states opportunities if they just vote for him. "The people don't choose me, you choose me." So I believe the PC just has to suck the dicks of the EC and he wins. It's political injustice to not let the people's choice win if the PC won the popular vote. I believe in proportional representation like in Norway. If 13% of the people living in the state want Nazism or Radical Totalitarianism as the political system than 13% of the seats in the house or congress will be occupied by politicians that can speak for those people and their ideology. America has a two party system. And as the way things go, the independent party or green party or whatever 3rd party that vies for control will never come close to the presidency. Teddy Roosevelt's Bull Moose party was the closest to gaining the presidency and that was over 80 years ago. I think this country needs a change in it's political practice. The government is made by the people and for the people. It should change when the people ask for it. But you and I both know, asking gets us nowhere in today's society. We do not have the money. We are not political elites. We are unimportant in the eyes of those in power. We are expendable. Your congressman does not care if you die tomorrow. Paying taxes to the state is more important than your physical health. I am no democrat or republican. The political ideology is one of radical ideology. I like Totalitarianism and Authoritarianism. I would like to hear what others have to say.

our system has worked fine for 230+ years. It was set up like that for a reason and change is not needed, lest the US ends up like european countries. uh...no.

Every political system is designed to result in certain consequences. The Electoral College has a couple of huge advantages: 1. Without it, candidates would never leave the big cities and states, because that's where the votes are. Having the E-C means that smaller states get a larger say than they would normally, which would be nothing. I'm OK with that; it's not that big a difference. 2. If we had a system like Norway's where the Radical Party got 13 percent of the vote and 13 percent of the seats, we'd have a ton of parties. Few would be able to have 50 percent and thus odd coalitions would have to be formed in order to create a government. Then it would take one disagreement and you'd have to have a new election. I like the stability that the current election system creates. I think a third party win for President is possible under the right set of circumstances. We seemed ready for one in 1992, but Ross Perot was absoutely the wrong messenger for that task. However, the two major partieis are too entrenched for a third party to seriously contest 435 races for the House and Senate. A replacement for the Republican or Democratic party is possible, like the Whigs faded and the Republicans came on, but unlikely.
3 :
And under your wacko system, if a candidate wins Los Angeles, NYC, and Chicago, which is often the case, he is almost guaranteed victory. The electoral college is an important safeguard against democracy. The people are not supposed to elect the President. "The government is made by the people and for the people. It should change when the people ask for it." Bull. The government was set up to be resistant to the ebb and flow of popular opinion. "I like Totalitarianism and Authoritarianism." Then why the crap do you want a democratic system of picking the President?
4 :
Um, hate to say this, but you are not running the numbers right. The popular vote is biased to the largest cities and the largest States. So, you would have the largest States and Cities tell people who live in Montana and Wyoming how to live?
5 :
You do seem to live up to your name. I don't see how proportional representation can remedy the problem of PCs winning presidential elections with fewer votes. You can only have one winner anyway, so who cares how the proportions go? I agree you need to get rid of electoral colleges, and then just add all the votes throughout the country and the winner is the person with the most votes. {preferential voting (choice voting) might also help.}
6 :
Our political system sucks. We are printing and spending money out of control. Our politicians hate each other let alone fix any problems. Local government sucks too. We are trying to change, we are creating a new political party that even George Washington would be proud of. http://countypublicprimary.blogspot.com/

2012...once again :P?

2012...once again :P?
Now, I know what your thinkin, its one of those scared person looking for others to say "it wont happen" or "Hollywood only does it for money"..."Or god only knows when it will end...Mayans just decided to hunt for fish instead of making the calender"... But I would like a full, evidence on why...the world is not going to end...on that date of 2012... I read something about...certain governments...preparing different types of "in case" situation, Austrilla with the seeds...Norway with its ice cap chambers or whatever it is... I know 2012 the movie, is just a movie, though its based on the theory...Why cant we have a giant solar flare in 2011...and it effect us badly like it did...with the Earth quakes and such what....and...I thought the world would be covered with ash for 40 years..yet at the end of the movie..when it zoomed out you could clearly see the blue oceans, and the world was not covered in no ash. I know its a movie, I know it could be a hoax...but....I kinda want the answers to be answered. Well...the "statements" I have said :P. Btw is it true...since our calender starts Jan 1st..ends Dec 31st ..that the Mayans calender were just...more...long?... Well ty! Well, I knew I was going to get "You were stupid" from some one lol. Well...I was doing more research, and thank you. I suppose when you think about it, the 2012 movie did not go by the theory at all, with many details missing, so I guess thats a hint right there. And Rober/HmmletsSee...you say about how he predicted 9/11, world war 2..though these were all theories or well what he says about 2012...well if he was pretty close about those two why not this? And how could he anyways thats crazy :P Ty you all for the info!

"Btw is it true...since our calender starts Jan 1st..ends Dec 31st ..that the Mayans calender were just...more...long?" Yes. End of story.

There's this very long history of prior, failed predictions - http://www.abhota.info/end1.htm
4 :
The Mayans never predicted the end of the world, the calendar simply ended. Also, people may say that the calendar said "the end of the world AS WE KNOW IT" On the other hand, there is a theory that there is another planet in out Solar System, called Nibiru. It only orbits very rarely (I forget how long). The gravitational pull of Nibiru will be so huge, that it would tilt the world ever so slightly, causing earthquakes and what not. ALSO, a man named Nostradamus was a prophesier. He predicted a lot of stuff, like 9/11, World War 2, and 2012. Although he did not give a year, he gave a general time. Keep in mind, these are all theories. I find them interesting but I still don't think the world could end in one day. I think that people will freak out, commit suicide (some), and cause riots. EDIT: I forgot, the Illuminati. Their a conspiracy group that want the world to be one government. They use music artists to give out subliminal messages to have people become satanic, like they are, without even knowing it. Apparently, they will act out the coming of Jesus Christ, and if people don't believe, they will be killed. I think this is rediculous, but I do believe somewhat in the Illuminati. EDIT: I know what you mean, and I honestly can't answer that.

<But I would like a full, evidence on why...the world is not going to end...on that date of 2012...> You have this the wrong way round. It's not possible for someone to prove that something won't happen. Here's how it works. People who claim the end of the world will take place need to explain why. If they can't explain why, then there's no reason to suppose that the world won't continue, as it has done for the last 4 billion years. It's possible to look at every single doomsday claim for 2012 and dismiss it. Planet X/Nibiru - no sign of it. Pole shift - not physically possible before or during 2012. Solar storm - solar activity now expected to be lower than at the last maximum in 2001. Any planetary or solar alignment - doesn't have the slightest effect on us. And so it goes on until all the claims are dismissed and there is nothing left to distinguish 2012 from 2013, 2014, etc., in other words - just another year.
8 :
The only thing that will happen on 2012 is you'll probably lose your DirecTV satellite signal.
9 :
"But I would like a full, evidence on why...the world is not going to end...on that date of 2012..." I don't think I can prove that the world will not end in 2012. For that matter, I can't prove that the world will not end tomorrow or in 2035. There are some arguments as to why this is extremely unlikely. The earth has been around for about 4.5 billion years, life has been on earth for something like 3.5 billion years. Humans have been around for at least 250,000 years. Clearly anything that will destroy civilization or the Earth should be a very improbably event, one that happens once every million years or every billion years. The peak of the solar cycle happens once every 11 years. If we were going to get killed by solar flares or coronal mass ejections, it should have already happened. Geomagnetic reversals happen about every half million years. The last geomagnetic reversal happened 780,000 years ago. While humans were not alive, Homo erectus was, and it seemed not to have killed off our ancestors. The planet Nibiru is supposedly on a 3,600 year period. That would have given the planet plenty of time to destroy human kind through close encounters with Earth. Also people are notoriously bad at predicting the end of the world. See A Brief History of the Apocalypse for a list of dates people said the world would end but did not: http://www.abhota.info/
10 :
We can feel confident that disaster won't strike in 2012 not because we know it for a fact, but because we have no reason to think disaster will strike then. NONE of the claims hold up; they're a mix of bad science and bad history. About that "bad history" part--the Maya didn't predict disaster in 2012; their calendar cycles, not stops, and if anything they expected it to start an age of enlightenment. It is possible we'll get a big solar flare in 2011 or 2012--though it's less likely than 2013 or 2014, when solar activity is expected to peak. You see, the Sun's activity peaks *every* 11 years or so; it goes in cycles of activity. But solar flares don't really affect life on Earth. They can damage our satellites, and bad ones can damage the power grid on the ground--but that's about it. Earthquakes aren't affected by solar flares; saying a solar flare will cause quakes is equivalent to someone telling you that sunlight causes landslides, and on sunup exactly X months Y days from now we'll suffer massive landslides. That's the kind of logic that drives the doomsday predictions, once you peel away the plausible-sounding layers they surround it with. I hate to tell you this, but Nostradamus didn't predict WWII, 9/11, Hitler, or anything else in modern times. What people do is, after major events like that, they go through his quatrains looking for something they can shoehorn into looking like a prediction of the event. They often deliberately mistranslate certain words to make it fit the "prediction" better, too. Never trust a claimed Nostradamus prediction. On that note--I recall in the 80s hearing a Nostradamus prediction that World War III would be started in the 90s by some guy in the Middle East who "will come in a blue turban". I'm still waiting.

Well, I can tell you one thing for sure: in three years we will all be laughing our asses of thinking about those crazy folks believing the world would end in 2012! They were wrong about the year 2000 too by the way...

21 December 2012: The Boilerplate Answer We hear each day "two oh one two" The kids all ask if it is true. "Nibiru, the planet we must fear, Or planet X shall soon be here. The Mayan count runs to an end. I was told this by a friend.” Nibiru the hoax world of Sitchin Fit only for the garbage bin. Devoid of fact, reason or wit, Science laughs at all the talk of it. Of planet “X” Nan Lieder cries, And yet she won’t look at the skies, To come in thirteen months it’s true, The damn thing must be now in view! "Where is it?" Science asks with glee, "You said, ‘Beware two thousand three!’ With Earth it didn’t make a tryst, We’re very sure it don’t exist!" Galactic lines are the next fright, And yet the angles are not right. “Six degrees off!” the scientists say, “It happens near each solstice day.” But it would no difference make, You can be sure the thing’s a fake. "Planets align!" or so some say "It will be on that very day." Yet naught of fact now can they quote, I’d like to take them by the throat And try to squeeze some truth right in, But murder now they say’s a sin. Is it wrong that I don't care what happens to me at my job?

Is it wrong that I don't care what happens to me at my job?
Only been working there for two weeks and it's been nothing but trouble (I work at a restaurant as a hostess). The head hostess thinks that it's OK to yell at me in front of customers (she tells me where to sit people, but I sometimes sit them somewhere else because the customers complain so I just give it to them to please them) and that pisses her off. She hits me really hard sometimes and taunts me about being a priss or something completely stupid. And then one of the managers is this butch dyke who sounds and looks like a man. She's very rude and treats everyone like a child. I don't appreciate how she treats me either. I see it this way. I don't really need a job. I'm moving to Norway for university next year so it doesn't really matter what I do long-term here atm. I don't need money either. I get $500 from my father. I only work because I find it REWARDING. I love to work because it makes me feel like I'm doing something important. Where this whole thing steamed from was I have a disease called G6PD which I never told anyone at my job because it comes and goes. I went into crisis 30 minutes before I was supposed to go to work so I called in; I didn't tell them that I have a disease, but I told them that I was severely sick and that I took a Vicodin which is the truth. G6PD is the cousin of sickle cell. Lemme find a definition... ::a deficiency of an enzyme - G6PD - in red blood cells, causing hemolytic anemia. The sad thing is I always find awful jobs; why are people so cruel? I've had two jobs that were great though, but I had to leave them because of school starting. I wish I worked there again, at least I felt appreciated and that I'm not dog crap on the bottom of someone's shoe.

What is G6Pd, and what does it have to do with the way your co-workers are mistreating you? They are wrong, you (from your statement here) are right. And to the girl putting her hands on you, she should be fired.
2 :
Tell your boss the truth about your disease and how you are treated. I bet things change. If not, go over his/her head and report abuse in the workplace. You should care what happens in your job because it is your reputation and will affect future jobs.
3 :
Ahh that is awful. There is a number you can call for anyone who mistreats you or abuses you on the job... whether it is verbal abuse or they are physically touching you and hurting you! The number should be somewhere in the paper work you got when you first started or they must have it somewhere within your work place! I would suggest that you call the number and see what happens. They should get in trouble for their actions and if they do not then quit and go find a better job where the people you worked with aren't such mean people !
4 :
No I would not care either if I were in your situation. That is terrible. Do you want to really stick it out or just quit? If it gets to bad go to human resources and complain to the company. That is what I would do.
5 :
Tele the head hostess to piss off in front of the customers when she yells at you. See if she wants to go higher up and complain. Let her defend herself. Waht have you to lose?
6 :
Although you will find those type of people in any workplace, no one deserves to be treated that way. If I were you, I'd quit. Like you said, you don't need the money, so why stay there and take their cr@p? Find a new job.
7 :
"She hits me really hard sometimes." Stop right here. If you mean that the hostess physically assaults you, you need to contact the police and press charges. Whether you keep the job or not, your employer, and your co-workers, do not have the right to physically assault you, or anyone else. I would think that if you take care of this, that will serve as a good example to the manager, and others, about how they need to act.
8 :
Nobody deserves to be abused or mistreated no matter what . Always have respect for yourself and everyone else will . Allow no-one to hit you . Speak up for yourself ..or the next thing you know real trouble could happen .
