Can a left brainer get very good at math with practice?

Can a left brainer get very good at math with practice?
I have always been good at using my mind to do creative things such as drawing and stuff. When i went to college i wanted to do engineering science as my interest differs from what i am actually good at. I luv computers and i wanted to do computer engineering. I was never good at math but i always luved it, it was always my favorite subject in school. I get so frustrated when i cant do a single problem and when i dont understand what to do. I got so frustrated that i switched over to do art. I go to bergen community college and my parents have nooooo money. I felt like i wanted to do art, but after i saw that i had pretty much no future in it, i started to want to go back to engineering and this time i want to do computer science. It may sound very confusing, but i am a very confused person lol. I got scared off because of the math last time: Algebra 2. I got a C in it and i thought i really couldn't do any type of engineering. Why algebra 2? because i never took it in highschool, i was in a special ed type math -_-. But I was wondering if anyone can give me some insight on what it trully takes to succeed at math and computer science. I was scared out of engineering and i inplated in my head that i wanted to do what i was good at which was art, but still i dont quite hit the mark -_-. I always loved computers and i think i always will, but mostly i need a good job after college... It is my summer break and i have time before i make my dissision, ill appreciate any sort of insight or answer...

I think so but you should practice it in different sort of ways. If left brainers are visual then picture numbers in colors or something. Or make a story out of an equation. You need to think outside the box in order to find good ways to study. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AsdX.ecjfKblA.d1FVeUh9jpDn1G;_ylv=3?qid=20100705114308AAKIdyB

You are a right brained person; you wish to be more left brained :) Yes, with focus and hard work, you can probably do better in math. You can be a successful computer engineer without being a math whiz, however. Good luck! Left brain vs. Right brain - just for fun :) http://www.funderstanding.com/content/right-brain-vs-left-brain

While it's true that you don't need to be good at math to work with computers, you do need to be able to think logically if you want to do programming. If you're interested in circuit design, though, you DO need good math skills. However, if you just want to work with computers, and you're good at art, you may want to try website design, or computer graphics (like those used in the film industry). The programs used in these areas are advanced enough that, for the most part, you only need to be an end-user, not an engineer. PS You may also want to work on your English/writing skills.

Argh! When I first started college my major was fine arts. I was always popular in elementary and high school because of my creativity and my inherent abilities in art and design. I was always right-brained. But, because of my immediate financial needs and the downturn of the economy, I figured that I need to find another major. I always did mediocre in math and sciences and even made a C in my AP math class in high school. My own father even told me that I'm not going to be accepted in any major university. I persisted and went to community college and worked my ass off. I far exceeded the expectations in my liberal arts classes, but, still steered towards math. I have just transferred to UT Austin (top CS program in USA) and am majoring in computer science and math simultaneously. It's also noteworthy to mention that I bombed my weed-out calculus classes consistently getting As while the class average was C-. Let me tell you that my father ate everything that he once told me. Honestly, even I am shocked until now to my turn-around in math and sciences from fine arts. All this is to remind you that nothing is impossible and to inspire you that you CAN also make a complete turn-around if you truly want it.

I'm wondering where is the U.S.A heading when it comes to the economy?

I'm wondering where is the U.S.A heading when it comes to the economy?
I remember some stupid people working with me that were in favor of the Iraq war, I know is a fact that the world is full of stupid people and I'm not saying im smart. Now many stupid people around the country blame Obama, blame Bush for this economic mess. The economic decline of the U.S.A started in 1976, four years before I got here. I have seen this decline myself, here in Secacus, New Jersey, it was full of factories, my own mother in law worked at Liz Clairborne factory around North Bergen,NJ. Cubans like myself that I knew, had Embroidery businesses and were making tons of money, driving nice mercedez benz, everything is gone, adios, no more, its funny they still have the sign in Union City, NJ claiming it to be the Embroidery capital of the U.S.A People, this country is in the mess because of bad administration from the 70's till these days, people most of the time deserve what they get, we in Cuba deserve Castro for a while, but not 50 yrs of course, the U.S.A has been mismanage for years, this is what you get, 20% unemployment, houses will keep going down according to experts, bet. 5 to 10 percent, it will take bet. 4 to 6 years for this mess to improve. Adios now and if you unemployed, go to church and do a lot of praying, you going to need it, cause getting a job, is like winning the freaking lottery. Adios. talked about the Iraq war because it costed more than 3 trillion dollars, Mr. Stiglitz(economist) said that the war damaged the economy. This is not a rich country, we have 40% of people living pay-check to pay check.... Hi, Ronald.. Thank you for your comments, I'm not an economist, but I read and hear a lot of information about economics. I know what is going on, and anyone with commun sense will agree, this mess has taken 3 decades, lets stop blaming one president. thank you.

When our country went down hill economically in the 70s as you say, you are quite correct. It happened for several reasons including globalization policies like NAFTA, union destruction of American industry and our lifting of tariffs on foreign produced goods. The last 20 years we have given our economy to the Chicoms and the Japanese. Both control their labor cost (no unions allowed) and manipulate their currency value in the exchange rate market. However, the Chicoms and the Japanese are shitin- in their own mess kits as it will come to a head in the not to distant future. It depends if our politicians have the guts to do the right things and take our economy back. If they don't do it on a timely basis (within 3 years), we will have terrible social unrest (Tea party is a harbinger) followed by a revolution. Obama unfortunately is trying his best to destroy what is left of our country.

my parents dont approve of my college decision.?

my parents dont approve of my college decision.?
i currently go to Seton Hall University and am pursueing a bachelor's in pre-science. my original plan was to go to vet school after. my brother's gf goes to bergen community college and is in a 2 year program to be a dental hygenist. shes graduating this year, and i found out that bergen has a 2 year program to be a certified veterinary technician. i know for a fact that i want to work in a vet's office, and after doing a lot of research i really would like to go to bergen in the fall. i told my parents about this and they absolutely refuse to let me go. i took it upon myself to fill out the application and get the transcript release forms, but i have an outstanding balance that needs to be paid for them to get sent out. i have a parttime job, but i dont make nearly enough money to pay it off. my boyfriend is going to bergen for criminal justice, and my parents think that i want to go there because he is now going there. in my mind, that mentality makes absolutely NO sense what so ever. i would see him just as much as i do now, which is 1 or 2 times a week. i really dont know what to do and i think its ridiculous that i would have to stay at seton hall or go to rutgers newark based on what my parents think is right for me to do. they say that vet techs dont get a lot of money, but honestly i dont really care. if im doing what i love then why should i have to worry about that

Your parents have a lot more experience of life than you do. They understand that your long term career goals will probably be better served by you remaining in school and getting a degree and that you will probably eventually regret not going for that degree. It seems the easy answer now but may not long term.

would 1200 dollars be enough to travel and start over?

would 1200 dollars be enough to travel and start over?
I just bought a 3000 toyota camry got into an accident yesterday and it will cost 1600 to fix. I'm at a cross road with my life, if I spend the money to fix I'll have nothing left saved and be living with my parents with no job. if I dont spend it, Ill have 1200 left to find something. I feel really empty in my life and working a boring job in new jersey bergen county at a bank or food store is not my idea of a life. Also being at home and not affording anything. But 1200 isn't much of a foundation either I don't want to over think things so much but I'm 22 years old, single girl that never felt more clueless and empty. And I know staying at home will drive me nuts but I don't have a career or a passion. I need to find what I want and I feel like I've wasted 22 years already I don't want to waste anymore. we are all different people and nothing is ever perfect but I just want to get an idea of something I'd like to do and feel confident that I can do it. and be proud of me, these are things I never grasped and feelings I never allowed myself to have. After two failed long relationships, a suicide attempt, drugs, and an over dose on energy drinks (dont even ask about that one, the amount of caffine and other crap in those little 5 hour drinks made my hands, feet, and jaw go nump) I'm done with trying to escape. I just want to enjoy for once and stop dreading tomorrow. I mean its not a curse its a blessing to be here, and I always loose sight of that because living in rutheford New Jersey were I grew up and still feeling so small in a world so big makes me nervous to take the step and grow up, causes me to over think and not relax and enjoy. I already said yes to my brother to tell the guy to fix the car, I'm not sure if after I can sell it. I just want to be free from my mind and be happy. Shit that shouldn't be so hard. I don't know..

no you need more money then that!

Military.
4 :
how did you get you hands on a year 3000 toyota camry?
5 :
You need some direction in your life... might i suggest talking to some military recruiters. It has worked wonders for a guy i used to work with in your same situation. Spend your initial 5 years in and see where you go from there. He loves the army. My brother is going career in the marines and the same with my cousin in the air force.
6 :
u probably need a bit more than that
7 :
as soon as I read "New Jersey" I thought about telling you to leave right away, but $1200 isn't much money at all.
8 :
$10,000 would be perfect, 1200 is too low to survive
9 :
Did you graduate high school? Have you been to college? You aren't going to find a thing that supports you well without a diploma or good college eduction. $1200 isn't going to get you very far. Consider enlisting in the military to get college money and advance your life.
10 :
try going back to school i use to feel like that i went back to school now i have a great job, great coworkers, b/f, oh and brand new civic, which i love, etc....but $1200 wont even buy you a month or two's rent...maybe take half and go on a weekend trip and come back with a clear head and figure out what it is you want to do...
11 :
you definitely want more money than that. Sounds like you need to come up with a better plan. Maybe get that mediocre job to save money and don't spend any more than you have to. You don't want to put yourself in a position where your in a new town or state, you spent all your money to get there, you have no place to live, don't know anyone to stay with and end up living in your car until you can beg enough money to come home and stay with your parents again. IT will discourage you. Save first, then research jobs on line in the town or state you decide you want to go to, get the job first and then make sure you can get a place to live even if it is in a motel that does weekly rates with a kitchenette. If you just go for it you are going to feel worse than you do now.

haha.. well you've been through some stuff but whatever.. look on the bright side i guess.. you can still do a lot of things with your life.. personally i wouldn't leave all that in your past to get destroyed.. but. i think yes you can start new.. buy an apt for like 400 a month.. then the travel fare.. well you can pull that off.. find cheap flights or whatever.. or get a ride.. work your way around that.. but besides that.. i'd say you're not in bad position.. and a lot of people have worse lives.. but hey you have a lot of problems which means a lot of solutions to look at.. and possibility's to explore. i know it's hard when you're mentally drained like that but whatever.. shit happens move on.. from what i see you're fine.. and you're gonna get better.. i just say.. whatever you do.. do it all the way.. and learn from it if you were wrong or right.. or you can also just wait out the rain until things clear up
13 :
This is a tough one. I know how you feel, I have felt that way myself. Before you do anything irrational you need to take a moment far off and away from other influences and decide what you want to do with your life. Then you need to research on the internet about it and come up with an action plan. When you don't have a goal in life, you have no direction. So you need to aim that big arrow of yours in one direction and follow through whole heartedly. Make sure it is what you really want and go after it. Also, it always good to have faith. Most people in these types of situations are in actuality getting signs from God saying, "Hello, April are you there, it's me God." This means that God is there for you in these times of need and you are able to turn to Him when you are in trouble. Pray.
14 :
oh shit! were on the same boat, same age, same feelings... didnt try suicide attempts and stuff you said though. and hell no, 1200 aint enough. did you say ur workin in a bank? dont qiut that job yet unless you have enough money to use or you can find a replacement job immediately! that better than no work at all! well, i think youre shituation is better then than mine coz u have a car, me im still struggling to get a f***** license!
15 :
You can always start over. Get what you want, and want the right things. Fix or replace the car, get work. Get better work. Learn. Life can be hard, but you can can always keep going.
16 :
You should fix your car... It's your means of transportation and I'm sure it's a nice car and you want it to stay that way. You're just 22... You've got so much ahead of you! And remember, you have to crawl before you walk. Those boring jobs are molding you for the future and, not to mention they are a means of income that can aide you in saving money. Those feelings you're having are normal. Give yourself some time. You'll figure out what you want to do in life. Enjoy being young, because when your youth is gone, it's gone! Good luck and God speed!
17 :
Sounds like you need a fresh start... You're to young to live like this (not living at all)..... You should get a plan together (maybe even moving away from North Bergen (I've lived there before... so I understand).. Look into cities that don't have a high cost of living and an open job market (the best for what US has to offer for now anyway)... Might I suggest Dallas, TX (not only bc I live her), but I consider Dallas a great place for young people to get on their feet. Up North is so fast paced that if you're not on the boat you miss it. ****Remember**** you're world is not over because you wrecked you car, you're 22 and your life is just beginning... You need to take control of your life and do what you want.... If that means stepping out on faith with $1200.00 and a dream... girl go for it. You may spend 1999 dollars before you get it, but it's time to grow up... Hope this helps;-)
18 :
You've already stated to the mechanic (rather your brother to tell your mechanic) to fix the car, so in actuality you have a lot less than 1200 dollars. You can do anything you set your mind to. Fix the car, and find work somewhere else.
19 :
I did it on less!! I took a bus from south florida, 500 miles away to Jacksonville. Once i got there i found a cheap apartment and put down the first months rent. Then i had about 300$ left. i bought some food and then applied to get into school. It was about 50$ to get enrolled and take tests for school. What i had left lasted me until i got a job and i could pay my rent, put a down payment on a car, and go to school. Yes 10,000$ would be nice, but it isnt a a nessesity. Now i am almost finished with school and i have moved on my own again. I would not change anything about what i did. Yes i struggled and Yes it was hard. But i did it without turning to drugs or selling my stuff or doing anything i shouldnt do. People told me to join the military too. Yes, they offer direction to people who dont have any.... but they also prey on people with no direction so they can get them to join. Not because thats where they should be, but because they are lost. Only join the military if thats what you really want and not only because you are lost. You can find yourself and where you are supposed to be on your own, i know... i did it. You want to be free- you can be free anywhere if you are happy. So find what makes you happy.

It is more than you need if you want to travel to IRAN. some of travel agencies and tour operators like Revealing Persia (http://revealingpersia.com/) help you tow have a good trip and enjoy your times.
