I want to start modeling, how do I start?

I want to start modeling, how do I start?
I'm 17, tall about 6 feet, tan, muscular and built, and good looking. I want to start getting into the modeling business from photoshoots to vidoes all the advertising for industries. I also want to start making money doing it. How would I come to doing so and getting started? I live in New Jersey, Bergen County about 15 minutes away from the city. If anyone knows some look locations to get started please say so if not how do I just get started modeling? Where do I go and how do I find places?

I would like to tell you that you can keep your knees clean. But I am not good at lying.

take some pictures and build a modeling book then go to open-calls to various agencies around the city on the websites of agencies they will give you the hours where you can do this good luck

its quite simple mate.. search online for all model agencies sites in your area etc as most have a contact us for new moddels page.. they are always looking.. get them 5-10 totally different shots of yourself.. include a basic pic as a model has to be able to fit to all situations.. the better you are etc at doing this the more work you will get... they know exactly what they are looking for.. expect alot of rejection.. if they like you they will call you in for test shots for a proof sheet.. then if they do take you on they will help you get a book / portfolio together.. this costs alot but they will invest in you... yep big contract time... over the next few years expect to make no money at all and work 14 hour days.. hard work. its a short career and if you want glamour.. its the wrong industry. im a freelance creative director www.glenwilson.net when i cast normally i see 30 models a day and 1 gets the gig.. for a days work expect $300 ish when you start but you will spend most of your life at castings and this you will have to pay travel etc for.. but if its what you want in life.. go for it pal.. it can be fun.. but all models are advised to stay at school and get well educated as not many come out millionares. good luck glen

One Model Place.com. Click on my link below and get started finding local photographers (I'm one, actually), agents, talent scouts, and other models that can help you with recommendations and advice. Don't be discouraged... everyone wants to have your dream so put downs are common. Be yourself, stay positive and don't let people charge you for anything. If you have to pay for services, go somewhere else. Models get commissions. You may pay for products you may want though (photos and portfolios you may need to get your name and likeness out there) but I don't see why you would want to do that just yet with electronic mail (internet) available to you. TFCD is the most common free service a photographer will provide you (Time For CD) and is on an exchange rate... you are working for the photographer in exchange for some of his images for your portfolio. Good luck. .

These are the top mens agencies in NY in terms of bookings and top talent on their rosters http://models.com/agencies/top-men/ The individual agency sites should have details on what sort of photos and info you need to submit for consideration, as well as days/times of open calls (if any). Each agency has different requirements so read carefully. If there are no details on the site, then call the agency and ask them
