What is considered a high rent for a single family home?

What is considered a high rent for a single family home?
My family and I want to move into New Jersey most likely, Bergen County in Franklin Lakes, Wycoff, or Oakland my mother lives there and I think it would be great to live near her. We are looking at some houses for rent and found house renting from $1,000-6,500 my husband works and makes enough money for my family to be called sort of high-Middle Class. I was wondering if $1,000-6,500 is a high rent?

$1000 would not be considered high but $6500 could be.

Ideally you want to spend 25% of your income on rent. Realistically most people spend about 40-50% though.
