Hello. I have been feeling quite lonely these past few weeks. Actually, it's been persisting for several years, on and off. My name is Victor. I live in Southern California, with my mother. The place I live in is probably one of the whiter communities in So Cal. My mother separated from my dad when I was little. I'm guessing they felt the relationship vibe for a little while, then they just split. I noticed this happens to some interracial relationships. You see, my father is Mexican and my mother's parents come from Norway and Ireland. I guess that makes me biracial, but in the eyes of my school, I'm Hispanic. I remember one time my mother came to a student-teacher conference, and they asked where my mother was and I said that was here and they then said "Don't be silly, that's some random woman." As I said before, I live in one of the whiter communities in Southern California. I visit my dad sometimes on weekends in Lincoln Heights, a largely Mexican-American area, however the visitation is limited. I live with my mother the other times and I feel disconnected from my Hispanic counterparts. In my town, if you're Mexican, you came here to work with either a hammer or broom in your hand. My classmates make horrible jokes about people of Mexican descent and I'm the only Mexican in the grade. People don't even know my name, they just refer to me as Victor. In history class, the teacher said that Mexico was taken over by the Spaniards because the Mayans were weak. I couldn't speak up, I couldn't say anything. My mom has a decent amount of money, so we aren't as economically deprived as other Chicanos. Everyday is basically the same. Come home, sleep, eat, wake, go to the hell that is school, repeat. No fun on weekends, no one to hangout with. Now I can understand what my father was talking about when he was telling me about the Mexican experience in the United States. He told me about lots of alienation. I'm starting to think that the world is a great place if you're white. I wonder if I should leave home and try and to make it on my own.

Please do not leave home. Can you talk to you mom about how you feel? I don't know how it is to be a minority as i am white, but i can tell you that school is just such as small part of life. i know that it can be brutal but it is not worth ruining you life over. You sound like such an intelligent kid so finish school and try and be happy with yourself because that is so much more important than what others think.

I am sorry you feel this way, I don't know how old you are but trust me trying to make it on your own won't make it any better, then you will be like the "rest of them" on the street. My parents are from El Salvador and I am married to a Mexican which i love very much. I just quite a job that i had lots of problems with there racial comments, they will always say that the economy was going down just because of us the hispanic people no one else but us. There where more racial comments, but that's life be the bigger person and show them that you are someone that is going to accomplish things that you are not weak like they think we are, that we can hold are head up HIGH because some of are parents come here with nothing and give us ever thing we need by working there A** off. That's awful. Sounds like the staff and students at your school need some lessons in diversity awareness. It would be difficult to do that alone. Is there anyone at your school - a teacher, counselor, or principal - who would understand? If you could get that person to realize how the school as a community is unwelcoming and intimidating to nonwhites, maybe they could start educating the others, or at least raise the issue in a staff meeting. Talk to your mother too; maybe she could talk to someone at school. As for having friends, all I can suggest is that among the group at your school, try to downplay your differences and focus on the things you all have in common. Maybe you are so aware of being part Mexican that your entire experience is colored by that. Of course that would be natural, but I'm sure that the things that concern most high school students - social life, activities, homework, grades - are probably the same for everybody. Talk to others about those things. Join a club or sport. Finally, be patient. You will be grown up and free to leave before you know it. Try to remember that there is a big world out there, and it is full of different kinds of people. If you want to go to a place where there is more diversity, you will be able to find it. Perhaps someday you can use your experiences to raise awareness and bring about positive change.

Don't leave home. It's hard to make it on your own. I'm Mexican too. I've been living in Washington for about 9 years. I cannot say I know what you're going through because there's a good amount of Mexicans and Hispanics in my school, in my town. But I do know how it feels when others think that just because you are a minority from somewhere else, it means that you've come here to work your butt off in the fields. I know what it feels like when others believe that you cannot be successful, but don't let that bring you down. Take the time and effort to prove to them that you, as a Chicano, can and will be successful. I don't know what else to tell you. Except bestest luck and I hope you feel better. Why is it still not possible to rent videos from iTunes Store here in Norway? I bought Apple TV because it sounded so amazing. I know there's a way, like creating a fake adress, and make a US account and buy money there og whatever, but i wan this to be legal! What is happening?

Do I have to pay child support?
Do I have to pay child support?
I'm moving to Norway next month for a job that is my dream that earns me over 160k a year. I had a relationship with a girl and now she is 4 months pregnant. I don't want to be with her as I don't love her but I want to give my emotional and financial support to the child. She is currently living with her parents and make a decent wage. How do I make sure she receives the money in the check? How much should I pay her? BTW, no I can't refuse not to go. The reason is too long to explain just that I have to go to Norway. Im in the US right now.

Say you just got out of college ( This questions is only for people not out of college or younger) and you could go anyway to start your life. Where would it be? What kind of house? Okay. So I checked the world economy ranking for 2010, and I was quite shocked at what I saw. I'm not disparaging or downgrading any country; I'm just stating my opinion based on my knowledge and I know I'm not a sage (hence I ask in Yahoo answers!) What factors determine each country's economy? What is exactly GDP, and how does it really affect the country? Does having high GDP determine the power of the country? I looked at the world economy ranking and saw that Mexico is in 14th place with the GDP of over 1 trillion dollars, India with a little over 1.5 trillion dollars, and Brazil with over 2 trillion dollars. How do those countries make that much money? What do they do? Do they sell natural resources? Also, many developed European nations like Scandinavian countries (Sweden, Norway, Denmark) are in lower ranks then India and Mexico. Can someone please tell me how this phenomenon works? Once again, I'm not debasing any country but I know people usually define Mexico and India as "still developing nations" and yet they have high GDP among industrialized nations? I don't understand about China either. I know the population plays a role but exactly how does population affect the nation's economy and power ranking? As far as I know, the Chinese standards of living are below Japanese or Korean's, comparing other East Asian states. So if someone who has sufficient knowledge, would someone please inform me about all these phenomena? Thank you :)

gdp is the monetary value of all the finished goods and services produced within a country's borders in a specific time period, basically a measure of the strength and size of a country's economy. one of the most important things to keep in mind when looking at gdp is that population affects it tremendously. population affects the gdp because gdp measures spending and production of goods and services in a nation so if there are more peopple they will most likely produce more goods and services. the population of brazil is 193,733,800, indias is 1,155,347,700, and mexicos is 107,431,230. the population of sweden is 9,302,123, norway is 4,827,038, and denmark is 5,529,270. so of course over a billion indians are going to have more economic power than 10 million swedes. the average swede, however, has a much better quality of life and more money than the average indian. also in places like china or india there is huge income disparity and only a small percentage of population is extremely rich, while everyone else remains extremely poor.

Think of each citizen of the country as contributing to its GDP (in reality only the employed people contribute to GDP, but nearly all countries will have around 50 - 65% of population employed, so it about evens out in comparisons). Europe realizes this reality and it makes Obama's election as president of the United States all the more welcome. The Nobel Prize is really Obama's payback for disciplining the unruly United States and taming it to be a member of the European family of nations. Europe wants to reverse the American Revolution and re-colonize us and it sees in Obama a kindred spirit willing to do its bidding. Does the United States let its entrepreneurs run wild, coming up with fanciful new ideas and making billions from them? Obama will regulate and subdue business just like they do in Europe. Do U.S. businesses compete by slashing prices, aggressively pursuing markets, and jockeying for market share? Obama will make them behave themselves and stay in line just like European companies do. Do Americans work hard and push aggressively to make as much money as they can? Obama will raise taxes, emphasize community values, and narcotize their ambition by offering government largesse. And does the United States still believe in a sloppy, contrarian democracy in which ordinary people can directly affect their government, states have powers, and courts can reel in executive authority? Obama will use his rubber stamp majority in Congress to pass new laws regardless of public opinion and make us obey. In foreign policy, is the United States still willing to stand up, alone if necessary, to protect human rights in Bosnia, in Iraq, and in Afghanistan? Obama will curb this unruly independence and mold it within the fabric of appeasement that has dominated Europe for the past half a century. All this heavy lifting, this conversion of America into a European state, deserves a reward. And what is a more fitting one than to give Obama than the Nobel Peace Prize? He obviously doesn't deserve the award for economics or, given his health care ideas, for medicine. But the Peace Prize expresses Europe's longing: to take back the nation its overly ambitious and uppity children founded.

If the EU's labor standards require long vacations, high benefits, and proscribe layoffs and ours' do not, employers will migrate across the ocean to do their business in the States. If the Old World curbs ambition by taxation, regulation, and social opprobrium, the ambitious will flock to the New World as they have done for four hundred years. So, Lenin was right. Socialism cannot exist in just one country - or one continent. It must dominate worldwide or wealth and power will flow to those who remain committed to the free market. Europe realizes this reality and it makes Obama's election as president of the United States all the more welcome. The Nobel Prize is really Obama's payback for disciplining the unruly United States and taming it to be a member of the European family of nations. Europe wants to reverse the American Revolution and re-colonize us and it sees in Obama a kindred spirit willing to do its bidding. Does the United States let its entrepreneurs run wild, coming up with fanciful new ideas and making billions from them? Obama will regulate and subdue business just like they do in Europe. Do U.S. businesses compete by slashing prices, aggressively pursuing markets, and jockeying for market share? Obama will make them behave themselves and stay in line just like European companies do. Do Americans work hard and push aggressively to make as much money as they can? Obama will raise taxes, emphasize community values, and narcotize their ambition by offering government largesse. And does the United States still believe in a sloppy, contrarian democracy in which ordinary people can directly affect their government, states have powers, and courts can reel in executive authority? Obama will use his rubber stamp majority in Congress to pass new laws regardless of public opinion and make us obey. In foreign policy, is the United States still willing to stand up, alone if necessary, to protect human rights in Bosnia, in Iraq, and in Afghanistan? Obama will curb this unruly independence and mold it within the fabric of appeasement that has dominated Europe for the past half a century. All this heavy lifting, this conversion of America into a European state, deserves a reward. And what is a more fitting one than to give Obama than the Nobel Peace Prize? He obviously doesn't deserve the award for economics or, given his health care ideas, for medicine. But the Peace Prize expresses Europe's longing: to take back the nation its overly ambitious and uppity children founded.

I'd call this a paranoid rant. On the other hand, if it's valid for the U.S. to try to influence policy in other countries by use of military force, there's no reason to think it would not be valid for other countries to attempt to influence the U.S. to promote world peace.

If the Norweigans think Obama has "tamed" us, they (and Obama ) have a rude awakening coming. At no time in my 62 years have I seen anti-European sentiment this high in this country. Very good article! I for one don't want to because a EU country. There is a reason we are the biggest, strongest, most powerful country in the world. If you are really a seller or online seller, so I need this time your advice! I want sell some special bikes from china to Norway where I live. It was easy for me to contact the factory and discus with the sell person on phone and talking bout the prices. But I don’t have money to buy 100 bikes. If I have how to sell it when I don't have my own shop! And I don't have experience with this business. My idea was coming from ‘’MAKING MONEY’’! But, how? I always thinking if talk to some Norwegian Wholesalers and cooperate, like I sell to them bikes with my prices and they pay me first before they get bikes! or they pay the factory with my prices! or …!? No that stupid!!! I don’t know really how to that. Can you tell me what I do please?
