my parents dont approve of my college decision.?
i currently go to Seton Hall University and am pursueing a bachelor's in pre-science. my original plan was to go to vet school after. my brother's gf goes to bergen community college and is in a 2 year program to be a dental hygenist. shes graduating this year, and i found out that bergen has a 2 year program to be a certified veterinary technician. i know for a fact that i want to work in a vet's office, and after doing a lot of research i really would like to go to bergen in the fall. i told my parents about this and they absolutely refuse to let me go. i took it upon myself to fill out the application and get the transcript release forms, but i have an outstanding balance that needs to be paid for them to get sent out. i have a parttime job, but i dont make nearly enough money to pay it off. my boyfriend is going to bergen for criminal justice, and my parents think that i want to go there because he is now going there. in my mind, that mentality makes absolutely NO sense what so ever. i would see him just as much as i do now, which is 1 or 2 times a week. i really dont know what to do and i think its ridiculous that i would have to stay at seton hall or go to rutgers newark based on what my parents think is right for me to do. they say that vet techs dont get a lot of money, but honestly i dont really care. if im doing what i love then why should i have to worry about that

Your parents have a lot more experience of life than you do. They understand that your long term career goals will probably be better served by you remaining in school and getting a degree and that you will probably eventually regret not going for that degree. It seems the easy answer now but may not long term.
